Biomass as Firm Generation

Unlike solar and wind, biomass generation is fully dispatchable — it produces power on demand, around the clock, regardless of weather or time of day. Parasol integrates biomass into the complete behind-the-meter platform alongside battery storage, natural gas backup, and EMS controls to deliver reliable, firm power for critical infrastructure.

Firm and Dispatchable

Biomass generation produces power on demand — not subject to solar irradiance or wind availability. Fully schedulable and EMS-coordinated.

Carbon-Neutral Lifecycle

Biomass combustion and gasification recycle carbon already present in the biosphere, delivering carbon-neutral power when sourced from sustainably managed feedstocks.

Agricultural Waste Utilization

Converts agricultural residues — orchard prunings, crop waste, nut shells, and other organic materials — into productive energy, reducing disposal costs and emissions.

EMS-Coordinated Dispatch

Biomass generation is fully integrated into the Parasol EMS, coordinated with battery storage, solar, and gas generation for optimized dispatch and load matching.

Platform Integration

Operates as part of the complete Parasol power platform — paired with battery storage for load buffering, DC-to-DC delivery, and optional carbon capture.

Behind-the-Meter Architecture

Deployed as a behind-the-meter generation asset, eliminating grid dependency and interconnection queue requirements for AI data centers and industrial loads.

How It Works

From Feedstock to Power

01

Feedstock Preparation

Organic material is collected, dried, and processed to achieve consistent particle size and moisture content for optimal combustion or gasification performance.

02

Combustion or Gasification

Prepared feedstock is converted to heat or syngas through controlled combustion or gasification, releasing stored chemical energy for power generation.

03

Power Generation

Heat or syngas drives a generator to produce electricity — firm, dispatchable output available on demand and coordinated by the Parasol EMS.

04

Battery Storage Integration

Generated power flows into the Parasol battery storage system, providing load buffering, backup reserve, and smooth power delivery to the connected load.

05

EMS Dispatch

The Parasol EMS coordinates biomass generation with all other platform assets — optimizing dispatch, managing state of charge, and maintaining power quality.

Feedstocks

Compatible Feedstocks

Parasol biomass systems are designed to accept a range of organic feedstocks, with selection based on local availability, moisture content, and energy density.
